Product Information: Plot: Future extreme sea levels at selected UK tide gauge locations using extended method, 2020-2300

Process Title:
Plot: Future extreme sea levels at selected UK tide gauge locations using extended method, 2020-2300
Abstract:
Generates a plot of projections of extreme sea levels. Results are available for a tide gauge location around the UK coast. The plot shows the projected future extreme sea levels against the return periods expressed on a logarithmic scale from 1 to 10,000 years. Extreme sea levels are relative to the 2017 zero-level of Ordnance Datum Newlyn.
User Guide:
For guidance on the Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) and how to interpret the plots, please see the guidance pages.
Warning:
Before using this product, please read the UKCP18 Guidance on Caveats and Limitations as well as the conditions of us under the Open Government Licence.

The time-mean sea level projections are available through the user interface to the nearest mm, which represents the approximate accuracy of the underlying Monte Carlo simulations at 2100. For consistency, the extreme sea levels are also provided to the nearest mm. Greater numerical precision is available in the source data files that are available through the CEDA Catalogue.

We do not include the uncertainties in the present-day return levels in the projections. These uncertainties may be much larger at some sites than the uncertainties in the projected change, particularly for long return periods (i.e. low probability events). For details see the UKCP18 Marine Report, section 3.2.4.
